About

With ties to both Italy and Australia, designer Elise Eales seeks to create a range of objects that can connect us with ourselves, our spaces and the people we surround ourselves with.

Growing up in a pottery studio I have always gravitated to those tactile objects that become apart of daily routines. It’s these outwardly simple routines that inspire my pieces. I like the idea that you can lay the table and then choose your favourite plate to sit down to or equally hang it on the wall next to a beautiful painting. Having spent a lot of time in Italy, I'm particularly influenced by Italian ceramics and imagine each meal and celebration they have been used for. Whether a platter is only removed from the wall for special occasions like Ferragusto or used daily for il pranzo, it’s the idea of coming together over a shared ritual and leaving feeling fulfilled by the beauty of it all.
