Wall plate - with Sicilian tile motif

Using earthenware this hand built plate is formed using a traditional terracotta mould. Made over several days, the process of pairing back the clay and refining edges and texture allow each piece to be entirely unique and embrace individual irregularities. 

This piece is beautifully suited as a decorative wall plate as the large flange sits away from the wall casting a soft shadow. The design references ornate Sicilian tile pattens. It is also possible to use functionally.
