Puglia Plate - Pompeii check with brass wall hook

Using fine terracotta the hand built plates are made over several days. The process of pairing back the clay and refining edges and texture allow each piece to be entirely unique and embrace individual irregularities. 

This piece is embossed with a hand carved sun motif inspired by Etruscan designs. The border is painted in a fine earthenware slip and then delicately carved in the check pattern to create greater contrast. Sealed with a clear glaze, this piece can be used decoratively or the table.
